Eldest son of Dubai ruler dies from heart attack

Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum passed away from a heart attack at the age of 33, Saturday. The announcement was made by the Dubai Media office.

The young Shaikh was the eldest son of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces both expressed their condolences to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and family.

A three day mourning period has been announced with flags flying half-mast in Dubai. Government entities will continue their work. The Zabeel Mosque will host funeral prayers Saturday evening after which the burial process will commence.

Thousands of people express their grief and offer condolences via social media.
